In 6th grade Social Studies, students dive into Minnesota’s rich history and learn how our state fits into the larger story of the United States.
What to Expect in MN Studies 6
Students explore important events, people, and places from Minnesota’s past—starting with the first Indigenous peoples of the upper Mississippi River region and continuing to the present day. They also learn how our state’s government works and how it connects to the broader national system.
Skills & Activities
Students build skills in:
- Historical inquiry and research
- Civic and geographic thinking
- Economic reasoning
- Exploring diverse voices and experiences in Minnesota’s history
As part of the course, all students will take part in History Day or create a Digital Storytelling project to share what they’ve learned in creative and meaningful ways.
